EU, Global or Region Free? Region Locks Explained

Why game keys have regions, how to check them before buying and what happens if the region does not match your account.

Every key in our catalog carries a small region badge next to the platform — “EU key”, for example. It tells you where the key can be activated, and checking it takes two seconds that save a lot of trouble.

What the region means

  • EU — activates on accounts registered in European countries.
  • Global / Region free — works on accounts anywhere in the world.
  • Other regions (US, Asia, Latin America…) — only for accounts registered there.

All keys currently sold on Knightix are EU keys.

Why region locks exist

Publishers set different prices for different markets and sign separate distribution deals. The region lock makes sure a key is redeemed in the market it was issued for.

Your account region is what counts

It is not about where you are sitting right now, but where your account is registered:

  • Steam — the store country of your account, set by where you usually buy from.
  • PlayStation — the country chosen when the PlayStation account was created. An EU code needs a European account.
  • Nintendo — the country of your Nintendo Account.
Do not use a VPN to activatePlatforms treat this as a breach of their terms and may restrict the account. If the region does not match, contact us before activating.

How to check before buying

  1. Look at the badges on the product card: platform first, region second.
  2. On the product page, the details table lists the region in full (“Europe (EU)”).
  3. Not sure about your account region? Check it in the account settings of the platform before you order.
